About Me
I am Zhu, a product designer based in the Bay Area. I currently work at Farmers Business Network, where I help farmers secure loans stress-free, so they can focus on their farm operations.
I'm originally from Chengdu, China, and I've had the chance to work with companies from China, the US, and Australia. It's been a fantastic journey, diving into different cultures and meeting folks from different backgrounds. The exposure of different cultures and meeting and working with different people has shaped me into a flexible designer who always strives for inclusive design.
Most of my career so far has been in the startup scene, where I learned the importance of lean UX principles and the art of aligning design goals with business needs. I believe that a design truly shines when it’s not just sitting in a design file but something alive and embraced by customers.

My Design Approach
Understand the User
This is the foundation of user-centered design. I conduct my own research or work with resources I have to collect user insights and narrow down the real problem we are trying to solve.
Know the Business
I work with cross-function teams and align the design goals with business goals. I also keep stakeholders the loop during the design process to get feedback and address problems proactively.
Engage the Teams
I facilitate design-thinking workshops with cross-functional teams to generate ideas and help shape roadmap priorities.
Keep it Simple
Sometimes simple means efficiency. I keep my design simple and straight to the point, minimize unnecessary extra steps or visual clutter so no important action or information is hidden for the users.
Driven By Data
I use analytical tool Amplitude, UserTesting and leverage A/B testing to evaluate design versions and make product decisions.
Test with Real People
I validate the design with users, and build out UX backlog based on their feedback and arrange the future design work based on prioritizations.
On a Less Serious Note…
I am a wannabe knitwear designer. If you look into my bag, there's a good chance you'll find a work-in-progress knitting project in there. Check out my other knitting projects here.
